I was referred by a former professor to the Churchville-Riga Chamber of Commerce and was given the opportunity to design the official town logo. In this role, I worked directly with the chamber to develop branding that effectively represents the town's identity.
Throughout the process, several revisions were created, starting from a more basic vector art design of staple landmarks that the town is known for, to a more realistic and colorful rendition of the town waterwheel and clocktower.
I was sure to keep a consistent color scheme while manipulating each layer in this design, keeping the sky a muted blue color to keep the attention on the landmarks. The wheat vector art on each side of the imagery, representing the agricultural farming population that occupies this town, is filled with the same golden color used in the clock tower, and the brown of the water tower is used within the shadow of the right side of the clock tower, tying each item used in the logo together. The client was thrilled with the outcome, and the logo has been printed on merchandise, business window fronts, and the town water tower.
This project held deep personal meaning for me, as I grew up in this area and attended elementary school here. Contributing something so lasting and symbolic to the place that shaped my early years was truly a memorable and fulfilling experience.
